Steve Hofer
Steve Hofer has been a practicing attorney since 1987. He is a graduate of Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management and Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis. He previously was an Adjunct Professor teaching Litigation and Business Law at Ivy Tech State University in Indianapolis, and he served on the Board of Directors of Citizens Action Coalition of Indiana, the largest pro-consumer lobbying not-for-profit organization in the state of Indiana. He previously served as State Chairperson of the Indiana chapter of the National Association of Consumer Advocates. Steve has also served as a volunteer guardian ad litem, helping to protect the interests of abused and neglected children.
For 16 years Steve was a staff attorney for UAW Legal Services Plans, and he served as an area rep (shop steward) for the local branch of AFSCME 3357, participating in the union’s collective bargaining team.
Since 2014 Steve has been in private practice, with a practice mostly involving business and consumer law, with a large concentration in debt defense cases, handling cases from a few hundred dollars to over $2 million. Steve has conducted seminars for other attorneys on several topics including the Uniform Commercial Code and wrongful repossessions.
